He is dressed in robes and holds a rosary over his hat, praying. The young girl hugs his arm and leans into him, while looking out at us. They are in a large architectural setting, and up the stairs behind the pair is another room. A woman emerges from the dimly lit room where a large crucifix hangs above two kneeling worshipers. Above the door is an inscription in what appears to be Latin. The engraving is definitely a religious scene, although the story it tells and it's specific message are unclear. |
