Eleanor Norcross Collection |
| Description |
Hand painted, postcard size engraving found in Norcross Collection. It appears to be painted with water colors, and the scene depicts a man and woman looking at the countryside and a castle on a hill. There are other homes and smaller castle-like buildings amidst the surrounding trees, and paths weave through the country taking the viewer back to the castle. There is also a faint stamp in the upper left hand corner; a square with a crown above it has been pressed into the paper. Perhaps by the maker of the engraving or the maker of the paper. At the bottom of the print it says "Prentiss", which is presumably the engraver. |
