| Abstract |
The newspaper article tells us that a native of Fitchburg, Dr. C.N. Ordway was one of the most venerable and respected citizens of Nashville, Tenn. He had taken an active interest in the advancement of the cause of education and in public improvement had done much to uplift his fellow-men both by precept and example. Dr. Ordway, as a young man, accepted a position as a professor in Jackson college at Columbia. After several years, he removed to Giles county, praciticing medicine at Pulaski for several years. After Pulaski he moved to Elkton, where he practiced his profession for a number of years. He then moved back to Pulaski, where he was much interested in education and public improvement, being one of the promoters of the Bethany school at Bryson. He was also a director in the Tennessee & Alabama railway. After his legislature experience, Dr. Ordway moved to Nashville and for years was prominent in business circles, having been connected with the firms of Bailey, Ordway & Co., among others. At the time of his retirement from business in 1899 he was a member of the firm of Hall, Ordway & Co. |
