Abstract The newspaper article states that Rev. Charles B. Ortman conducted his first service as the new minister of First Parish Church of Fitchburg, Unitarian-Universalist, which is located on the Upper Common. He was a social worker in Illinois and later found that what was missing was a spiritual component. In the church, he has found a sense of community that neither social work or music can offer. Before coming to Fitchburg, Rev. Ortman had been a student minister and intern minister at the Unitarian Society of Burlington, Iowa.
His plan was to see the First Parish Church "stand prophetically on the edge of social justice.
