| Abstract |
The obituary tells us that John Honkonen was the editor of the newspaper "Raivaaja" for 17 years. He was also the organist of St. Paul's Lutheran Church too. At one time, he was the choir director of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brookline, N.Y. Mr. Honkonen was also director of male choruses and mixed choruses in New York city.
In 1958, Finland awarded him a medal, the Knight of the White Cross in recognition of his work on behalf of Finnish culture in America. |
