Rick'ys Big Collection painting
Description John Garfield, also identified as" Julian" the poet figured so importantly into the early history of the historical society and the Fitchburg Sentinel is the subject of this painting.
Within the work there are classical references indicative of his personality, infact it was soon discovered that John had a interest in scholasticism studing politics and Latin ( he used a pen name Julian and several of his poems contained latin prefixes and cognates). These communications show a considerable amount of genius and in addition refer to the energy of an emerging America. In the rigourous contenance of John Garfield on canvas he could be considered the recapitulation of embodied realism The artist clearly relied greatly on figurative realism, this new painting approach became the vision of art prevailing in the twentieth century. Natural light effects used give low level relief to the work, the white detailing of the cloth demands space on the canvas, as well as the costume are compositionally colored and confirmed original. In this being an excellent example of the period guise, this work should take artistic precedence and be considered for showcasing.
