Description

| The start of this painting was apparently at the H.T. Estabrook & Co at 374 and 376 Main Street, a stationery store specializing in book store, stationary and blankbook department. They carried a line of bound books, paper covered books, periodicals, magazines and other items, judging from the tag, the art gallery was a later developement. It is an unknown work, that may have only been framed there, our hope is it was purchased there thus dating alas the work can be dated to 1850-1929. The women is strongly schematized , to the aqualine forehead to the importance of hairstyle and Ellen Davis's views on its signifigance. All the efforts combined communicates a reality beyond the mere dimensions of the work. |
