A wooden secretary made of American walnut in the combined Gothic and Eastlake design. It has scroll and leaf handles. The top right finial is missing. It was owned and used by Colonel Arthur L. Conger (1838-1899), born in Peninsula and a distinguished Civil War veteran. See Notes and Provenance. |

Colonel Arthur Latham Conger married Emily Bronson Conger, granddaughter of Peninsula's founder Hermon Bronson. Colonel Conger was active in business and politics in Akron where he built the Hermon Bronson Conger mansion.
This secretary was given to his lodge (name and order unknown) on November 11, 1915 by his widow.
