Summary Originally printed as as issue of the quarterly magazine of the National Trust, "Historic Preservation," Volume 19, Numbers 3-4, July -December 1967. Details the history and preservation of Decatur House. It was designed by Benjamin Henry Latrobe who is considered America's first professional architect and originally owned by Stephen Decatur. Decatur House was bequested to the National Trust in 1956 and is part museum, part headquarters for the National Trust.
