| Notes |
These shades were in the Wood Store at 1663 Main Street, Peninsula, Oh . The store was on the ground floor with living accommodations on the upper level. The building is built into the hillside so that the first floor living area is on grade on top of ridge facing the canal. On this level was a garden and stable.
It is unknown whether these globes were used on a single chandelier or on several lighting fixtures in the residence of the store.
Lily Fleder, who is the first person in Peninsula to be concerned with preservation. It was she that came to me (Robert L. Hunker) to help save the Bronson Church later The G.A.R. Hall and the wood store. The store was condemned with decaying, collapsed wings from the Victorian era. She found some young boys playing in the ruble and then had found these globes and were also playing with them. She was able to save them and stored them from approximately 1962 to present-given to Robert L. Hunker in Dec. 2002 to preserve.
Hopefully we will find a photo of where and how these were used in the building.
Very little is published and preserved about acetylene lighting.
