Notes Steel engravings like this were traditionally hung in school classrooms or assembly rooms. This one hung in the Hudson residence of the Cleveland based Harry L. Eastman School of the Ohio Youth Development Center, later called Hudson Boys School for troubled boys on Hines Hill Road. Lily taught there and during her tenure the residence of the school was remodeled and administrators threw the steel engraving of Washington out. A workman saved it and gave it to Lily who kept them for the Peninsula Schoolhouse after its restoration. It is rumored and probable that similar portraits hung here.
Provenance Given to the Foundation by Lily Baboryk Fleder. See Notes.
Recfrom Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fleder
