This large oil painting, in the Impressionist style, depicts a young girl reading a newspaper in a deserted cafe. She sits serenely alone at the middle table by a window. The table in the foreground looks as though the occupants have just left. Her table is set for two and it appears that the meal is over and her companion has left. |
