| Description |
Strombus pugilus shell is coiled and has an opening which corresponds to the body size of the living animal. The shell has a strong wing-like outer lip with a notch at the side known as the "stromboid notch". Living animal has brightly colored eyes on long stalks. Coloration graduates from white on the back of the shell to an opalescent orange opening. There are pointed cone-like protuberances at intervals along the coils ending at the point. |
